THE BROADCAST AND NEWSPAPER MUSEUM
Local newspapers, radio and television stations informed, educated and entertained us for most of the 20th century.
From the great depression, World War Two and Vietnam, to Jonestown and the assassinations at San Francisco City Hall; from the construction of the bay bridges, to the founding of the United Nations, the gay rights movement, the earthquake of ’89 and the Oakland hills fire, broadcast and print journalists have been on the scene to report and record the great tragedies and triumphs of our area.
Now there’s an effort underway to preserve Northern California’s television, radio and newspaper heritage in a new San Francisco museum.
